About Rose:
As a firm believer in the transformative power of talent and potential, I’m passionate about cultivating healthy organizations that prioritize people at the core of business strategy.
With a Master of Arts in Counseling Education and over 15 years of experience leading and managing diverse HR, early talent, career & workforce development teams and programs across higher education, nonprofits, and startups, I have deep experience guiding individuals, teams, and organizations through complex changes to optimize growth and impact.
A master career coach and talent leader, I believe that vulnerability and growth are powerful catalysts for transformation.
I have two young boys (who keep me on my toes) and live in a cozy home with a big rambling yard next to a river and lots of nature (critters) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I believe in a better world of work.
Hi, I’m Rose!
Childhood stuff: I was a girl of two worlds - half this (Puerto Rican) and half that (German). Growing up, I felt like a bridge connecting two distinctly different strains - culturally, genetically, and within my non-traditional family structure. Identity has been a current throughout most of my life.
In the small town where my mom and I lived, I didn’t look like everyone else and couldn’t quite fit in because well, my skin was “too dark”. For a host of reasons, I grew up polite and poised on the outside (to not stand out more than I already did), but on the inside I became super scrappy, hard working, and hyper-attuned to others.
I couldn’t wait to experience a bigger world, but working hard followed me wherever I went. It was role modeled by my single mom as a necessity to make ends meet. And, I internalized my differences and a lack of belonging in childhood by doing extra to prove myself and my worthiness.
This was compounded by a diagnosis with an autoimmune disease at age 14 after many months of debilitating illness. I’m fortunate that treatment will (fingers crossed) support a long life, but when I tried to start a family and now as I’m aging, it’s not without ongoing challenges to feel and be healthy.
Real talk: I spent much of my life (admittedly, often unknowingly) searching for self-recognition and wholeness. I did this by being outwardly achievement-focused in all things related to work…and I re-created this overachieving loop over and over again.
Many of us get to this place because of the stuff we had to overcome. There are many talents I honed as a result (tenacity, refined EQ, ability to bring a different perspective to solving problems), but I wasn’t living my full potential as a person or as a leader.
To operate as our optimal selves we can’t just look at one aspect of our lives that is out of alignment, we have to consider our whole selves.
My role in the world is to support:
Employers as primary change agents to create a more inclusive and equitable world of work.
Individual leaders with their fears and blocks that keep them from experiencing authenticity and from reaching their full potential at work.
